7 months

Oliver turned 7 months old on Friday, April 20th. In the last month he has grown a lot! He's a pro at rolling, is getting better at sitting, and is starting to scoot himself backwards a little. Clearly childproofing the house is in our near future.
He's been talking a lot lately too. "g", "p" and "b" sounds have been added to his babbling repertoire. Still no "m" sound which he's going to need to say "mom", but we're working on it.

We've been enjoying the spring weather and trying to get outside as much as we can. Oliver loves to sit outside and go on walks in our neighborhood.
He's still generally very happy and smiles and laughs a lot. Just yesterday we went to the library and he was smiling at everyone. He was particularly smitten with one guy who was checking out books and as we left the man smiled back at Oliver and said, "What a great smile. You just made my day." Baby smiles are magic.
And lastly, some recent phone pics.

First Park

We've been having such a lovely spring and decided to take advantage of the nice weather and take Oliver to the park near our house for the first time. He loved it! Firsts are awesome.

6 3/4 months

According to our imprecise measuring (wii balance board) this morning, Oliver now weighs a little over 19 pounds. How he managed to gain about 2 pounds in three weeks, I have no idea. Here are a few recent videos from my phone (i.e., low quality). He is still working on sitting up, but has pretty much mastered rolling. We also recently introduced a sippy cup too. It's more of a toy for now, but he seems to be enjoying it.

6 months

from 5 to 6 months
Oliver turned 6 months old on March 20 (which was also the first day of spring this year). Half of a year of being parents has taught us that having a baby is an incredible amount of work and joy! Oliver is continuing to babble, explore his environment, put things in his mouth, and roll around. He also started to sit up on his own right around his half birthday. Making him smile or laugh is still one of the best feelings!
He still loves his play mat and can now roll front to back as well as back to front. This means sometimes he rolls himself right off the mat.
Bath time is still a favorite. He babbles, splashes, and likes his rubber duck and toy monkey.
He enjoys being read to and trying to look at (and eat) books on his own.
Now that he's 6 months old, we've decided he should start contributing a bit more. We're nice though and offer coffee (not really [of course]) before putting him to work on the computer.
We recently visited the Minnesota Zoo and the Como Park Conservatory and Zoo. Below is a photo of Oliver at the Minnesota Zoo. He especially liked the noises the exotic birds made.
In the last few weeks Oli has started to grab his feet a lot. He has also filled out quite a bit. At his 6-month appointment he weighed in at 17 lbs 3 oz, putting him in the 50th percentile! Happy half birthday Oliver!
