I did
one of these posts about 2 years ago when Oliver was about the same age as Josie is now. These day-to-day things are so easy to forget and so I wanted to do another one. This one is a day in the life with two kids (ages 4 1/2 months and 2 1/2 years), complete with blurry iPhone pics. This was a Saturday (yesterday) when Chris was at work. The first weekend Chris went back to work Josie was about 6 weeks old and I was struggling to figure out how to take care of two kids by myself. But now, a few months later, it's much more manageable. It's still tiring but we're finding a bit of a rhythm which is nice.
Josie has been waking up really early lately, between 5-6. Today was no different. She was up at 5:30. She nursed and then Chris took her for awhile since he was up getting ready for work. He left for work at 6:45 and Oli was up shortly after that.

The three of us read stories for awhile and then Josie went down for her first nap around 7:30. While Josie was napping Oliver and I had breakfast, played and danced to music, and played pretend. Click below for more.

Josie napped from about 7:30-9:15 and nursed again when she woke up. Then she played on her play mat for awhile.

At 1:00 Oliver and I read stories for about a half hour and then he laid down for his nap. We love going to the library and try to go and get new books every 1-2 weeks. It's about a 50/50 chance these days that he'll nap and he didn't today. Even if he doesn't sleep we have him stay in his crib and read books or just have quiet time for about 1 1/2 hours. I got him up around 3:00. The three of us read books and listened to music until Chris got home at around 3:45.

We eat dinner pretty early these days, usually around 5. Josie usually sits in her Bjorn chair (or just recently, the highchair) while the three of us eat. After dinner Chris and Oli met our friend Scott and his daughter Julia at the Children's Museum. They had a blast.

I gave Josie a bath around 5 and she was asleep by 6. I nursed her to sleep and always love spending that quiet time with her as she falls asleep.

Chris and Oli made it home, we got Oli ready for bed, and Chris read him a few stories before bed. He is usually asleep between 7-8 these days depending on whether he takes a nap. After the kids are in bed, Chris and I clean up the kitchen, put toys away, and usually either work, watch tv, play a game (Ticket to Ride is a current fav), or some combination. Tonight I had some grading so we both did some work before going to bed around 10.
