Still catching up on some posts... The last weekend in April we drove to Chicago for my annual conference at the Palmer House in Chicago. The drive was pretty long but the kids did ok (with me in the back again). We got lucky and had a huge room at the hotel so we were able to set up the crib on one side of the room and had two double beds on the other side. The first night I put Josie to bed while Oli and Chris got some takeout. We ate picnic style on the floor of the hotel room and then Oli and I went down to freshii (which is in the lobby of our hotel!) to get some tart frozen yogurt. It was such a simple night but so much fun! In addition to going to the conference, we had fun seeing Chicago. Such a great city! Oliver loved exploring the city ("let's go exploring", he would say), especially the fountains and bean in Millenium Park.
A little about our short trip to Madison after the jump.On Friday afternoon we left Chicago and drove to Madison. We got to spend one night with Shell & kids which was a great time. They were having a neighborhood part at the community center so we stopped for games, food, music, dancing, etc. Oli had fun watching the dancers and playing with playdough and we had some delicious tamales. He also got to sit in (and on) a firetruck! The weather was gorgeous so we spent some time at the nearby park as well. Chris & I even got a quick date in on Friday night when we walked (in the rain) to get ice cream (thanks for babysitting Shell!). We drove home Saturday afternoon and the kids were great. Josie slept almost the whole way and Oli snacked and we read books until he finally fell asleep too. Traveling with kids is exhausting but we had a really good time!
And, our trip to Chicago and Madison in 2013. Oli looks soooo little!
