Alnwick Castle & Gardens

On Saturday we took a house trip to Alnwick Castle in northern England. This is the castle where the first two Harry Potter's were filmed. We were fortunate enough to get to stay in the castle overnight! We explored the castle and the town of Alnwick and then watched some Olympics before going to bed.

On Sunday morning Oli woke up really early (5:15!) so Chris and I decided to take turns with him and give each other some more sleep. I took the first shift, strapped Oli into the Bjorn, and we walked around the castle grounds. The castle wasn't yet open to the public so we wandered around by ourselves and tried to soak in all of the beauty. It was incredible to see the castle and the countryside in the early morning light. I felt so lucky.

Sunday afternoon we went and explored Alnwick Gardens. There were tons of plants and flowers, a treehouse, and beautiful lawn where families were having lunch and enjoying the day. Oliver was especially interested in watching some of the water features. We had to catch a train to Newcastle so we didn't have much time to explore, but what we saw was beautiful. We could have easily spent the whole day here!

  1. I'm pretty sure I could live happily in this place. The fourth picture shown here is definitely one of my favorites from your trip so far! Amazing.
